If the eating habit of the upper and middle class Nigerians is not changed, there may be an epidemic of unprecedented death syndrome in the country, which will arise from cerebral and coronal artery disease in middle aged people. Sounding this alarm has become necessary in view of recent increase in the number of people who “die suddenly” or die “without any apparent cause”.
Because of the lack of understanding of the symptoms, and because the victims are often perceived to be hale and hearty, this problem that has been ravaging the country is yet to receive any major attention in the medical circles.

Eating vegetables regularly can have many health benefits. They are one of the most natural foods and contain different vitamins, minerals and thousands of other plant chemicals known to provide health benefits. Along with all the many disease reducing benefits, eating vegetables can also help control weight. Being low in calories enables us to eat lots of vegetables without consuming excess energy; the high fibre content also helps fill the stomach faster, limiting the total amount of food consumed. Vegetables are also low in sodium, so they help reduce water gains. Sodium is present in virtually all processed foods; it causes the body to hold water within the interstitial areas of the body. It has been estimated that many average people may be holding up to 5 pounds of additional water caused from a high intake of sodium.

A Muslim has a lot of importance attached to what he or she eats or drinks. He wants to know the source from where it came from, whether it is from a pure source or not. He eats, not for the pleasure of eating, but simply because he must eat to maintain a healthy body so that he can worship Allah, his maker. This, he believes is (i.e. the worship of Allah) what qualifies him for the life after, where he hopes to have eternal happiness. Therefore, if he is not hungry, he does not eat, if he is not thirsty, he does not drink. As written by Allah’s messenger (SAW) “We are a people who do not eat until we are hungry, and if eat, we do not eat to our fill.” This goes to say, that Muslims must adhere to the manners of eating and drinking that the shariah has issued.

The largest organ of the body is the skin. It is made-up of three layers, namely:
1) The epidermis
2) The dermis
3) The subcutaneous layer.
The skin acts as a shield between the body and millions of foreign substances which exist in the environment where we live. It also functions as a means of excreting toxin and other substances from the body, just like the kidneys and the bowels do. Because of this, the skin undergoes several changes in the development of bumps and blisters as well as changing in color, cracking, dryness, flaking, itching, redness, scaling, thickening and many other problems. A lot of things are responsible for these skin reactions, and some of them are: allergies to molds, food, chemicals, cosmetics, insect bite, reactions to plants such as poison ivy, diaper rash, reactions to the sun and wind, reactions to drugs or alcohol, reactions to detergents, etc.
