More than a story about a man running multiple marathons, the documentary “My Run” is about the daily marathons we all run in life. Its premiere takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday in 500 movie theaters nationwide, including those at Carousel Center in Syracuse and ShoppingTown Mall in DeWitt. Expect to pay $12.50, a portion of which goes to Livestrong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

“My Run” is narrated by Billy Bob Thornton and tells the story of Terry Hitchcock, a 57-year-old man who ran 75 marathons in 75 consecutive days. After the feature, audiences can watch a Q&A with Hitchcock and his son, who was a member of the support team.

The film is about two marathons, one that began when Hitchcock’s wife died of breast cancer and the other when he set out to bring awareness to the struggles faced by single-parent families.

A Side You Can Root For in the NFL Labor Battle

A couple of weeks ago I wrote that I wasn’t taking either the players’ or owners’ side in the NFL labor battle. As a fan I feel that neither side really gives a damn about us. No matter what the players and owners say they will keep doing things that ultimately screw the fans. So both sides should stop insulting us.

But no matter what they do, we’ll be fine. We’ll live. I’ll be okay. Our “problems” with the NFL are really insignificant in the scheme of things. We’re addicted and will keep coming back. However, there are some people who won’t be fine, won’t be okay. As a matter of fact,

That’s when the Texas Yoga Association stepped in, arguing that regulation doesn’t apply to yoga and creates undue financial and administrative hardship on studios. “The bottom line is that regulation by the Texas Workforce Commission is not appropriate for yoga studios and does not benefit yoga students,” says TYA. How Health & Fitness editor Amber Smith lost 17 pounds — so far

Three months later, I’m 17 pounds lighter.

How did I accomplish this?

I don’t give all the credit to Weight Watchers, but I do believe that weekly weigh-in provides accountability I can’t get from myself. Much of what has worked for me didn’t come directly from a Weight Watchers guide.

None of it is revolutionary.

In fact, I’m mostly following advice I’ve written for The Post-Standard’s Health & Fitness section over the years.

See which of my strategies might work for you: (And below, please share your strategies for a future story.)

* I record everything I put in my mouth. On Weight Watchers, we count “Points Plus,” but some people count calories.

Improve Your Health With Wii Fit Games

Video game systems have been around for decades. I was just looking at old photos the other day from when I was very young and there was an Atari in the background! It is estimated that around 45% of adults play video games and its interesting that obesity rates are now at their highest levels yet. With that said, some may speculate that video games are partly to blame since people are basically sedentary during game play and some hardcore gamers play for hours on end.

ENTER: Nintendo Wii.

The Nintendo Wii was first introduced in 2006 and remains very popular today. The game selection continues to grow at a rapid pace giving players a good variety to choose from.
